Three Ways to Change Your Mind
Hey my friend!
This has been a busy week for self-brain surgery. We’ve had three podcast episodes, a guest appearance on an amazing podcast that will transform your thinking, and some major news about my new book. Let’s get after it!
Mind Change Monday: Switching Things Up
We started out on Monday with an incredible conversation called Switching Things Up, about how your brain rewires itself in relation to your thought life. This is an empowering and hopeful episode that will convince you that you’re not stuck! Listen or watch by clicking one of the options below!
Spiritual Brain Surgery
We have a brand-new Tuesdays with Tata episode on The Spiritual Brain Surgery Podcast! Tata gives us a powerful method for impactful prayers in this must-listen show. Check it out!
Frontal Lobe Friday with Olympic Champion Steve Mesler
Today’s podcast is another talk with my friend, USA Olympic Hall of Fame Member and 2010 gold medalist in bobsled, Steve Mesler. We talk about the mental health issues he faced and how he had a shocking realization that helped him recover from his rock bottom of suicidal ideation and depression.
What was the revelation Steve received? “I realized that I can’t fix my brain with my brain.” That’s essentially our mantra here at Self-Brain Surgery: you can’t change your life until you change your mind, and since you’re not just your brain, learning to change your thoughts it the first step. For Steve, that meant getting the right help for his depression. What does it mean for you?
You don’t want to miss this one!
Here’s a video Steve shared with us of his winning run in the 2010 Winter Olympics. That’s Steve on your left.

Steve also has a great newsletter (you should subscribe!), which has become something I read every week.
Here’s the YouTube version of Steve’s first appearance on the podcast. It will be very helpful and inspiring to you!
A Life-Changing Talk Between Friends
Also this week, my friend
had me on his new podcast, Confessions of a Christian Alcoholic. We had a deep talk about the neuroscience of addiction, hope, and healing, and how faith and science work together to give us the tools and clarity to move forward when everything feels broken. This is one of my all-time favorite guest appearances, and I think it will be important to you. And if you’re struggling with addiction, hopelessness, or anxiety, you’ll find Jon to be a trusted guide. His daily Substack and his upcoming book (which I endorsed) will change your life.

You Can Be On My Podcast!
📣Announcing: The Brain Surgeon and the Therapist 📣
On July 11, I’m recording the first in a series (hopefully) of podcasts with Gina Birkemeier, a brilliant therapist and author. Gina was on my podcast before, and we realized that it would be helpful to you to have us get together again and answer some of your questions. (🎩 Hat tip to Gina for the catchy title)
This is your chance to ask questions of Gina, me, or both of us, and we’ll build an episode (or possibly more if you like it). Here are three ways you can submit questions:
The most fun would be for YOU to join us on the podcast! You can record a video question using this link, and we’ll include you in the show! It’s super easy, and all you have to do is record. We’ll take care of the rest. Please start with your name and where you’re from, and then ask your question.
You can leave your question via voice mail, and we’ll use your voice on the show. SpeakPipe has a limit of 90 seconds for the messages.
You can email your questions to contact@drleewarren.com
Please remember: we cannot answer specific medical questions, and we cannot provide medical care or mental health care to you. Answering a question does not constitute a doctor-patient or therapist-patient relationship. If you want your question answered without using your name or voice, please email it to us instead.

Some Big News About the Book!
Just this morning, I signed off on the last tiny edits from the proofreaders for my upcoming book, The Life-Changing Art of Self-Brain Surgery: Connecting Neuroscience and Faith to Radically Transform Your Life! The book will be going to print soon, and will then quickly be available for pre-order. I’ll share the beautiful cover with you in a few weeks.
We have endorsements from New York Times bestselling authors like Ann Voskamp, Lee Strobel, Max Lucado, John Burke, and Mark Batterson; acclaimed scientists and neurosurgeons like Michael Egnor, Jeffrey Schwartz, and Joseph Maroon; a certain Olympic champion (can you guess who?), and lots of other amazing people. It’s got a foreword by world-renowned psychiatrist Daniel Amen, and contains four self-brain surgery approaches to change your mind, fifteen new operations to help you rewire your brain, and an expanded look at the Ten Commandments of Self-Brain Surgery™ to transform your life.
Would you join us in praying that this book will help people all over the world become healthier, feel better, and be happier?
We will be asking for people to join us on the launch team in a few months. If you’re interested in possibly being a part of this effort to help the book find its way into the hands of more readers, please email Lauren Watt at contact@drleewarren.com and put “Launch Team” in the subject line. We will contact you with more information when it’s time.
That’s the recap for this week! Stay tuned for this Sunday’s letter, which is a deep dive into neuroplasticity and microtubules, and how they give you a rational basis for hope no matter what you’re facing!
Have a very self-brain surgery day,
Lee
